Bone Broth For Gut Health

Bone broth is making a comeback in the wellness community and there’s a reason for the craze, after all it’s a remedy that’s been around for over 2500 years. If you’re like me, you’ve likely always associated bone broth in the soup category, something you mix with veggies and eat when you’re sick. However, after recently trying a new chain in NYC Brodo Broth, serving bone broth beverages and smoothies, I’ve finally awakened to the bone broth craze and discovered some of the vital natural benefits that are found in bone broth.

Gut Health

In a world focused on finding the right nutrients to put into our bodies, we often look to the easy remedies: protein powders, protein bars, protein pasta, protein cereal; you name it, you can probably find it with protein. Protein is an important fuel for the body, but supplementing protein into your diet from powders and bars can have side effects, most of which are related to digestive issues. Digestive health, particularly related to the gut, is a very important part of maintaining wellness awareness and regulating it can often times become an issue.

About 80-90% of digestive health happens in the gut and one of the imperative benefits of drinking both broth is improving your gut health. Bone broth naturally contains gelatin, which is proven to be one of the most important natural benefits that bone broth offers.

Strengthening Your Gut

Gelatin is proven to strengthen the lining in your intestines and therefore improves the overall health of your gut.

Combatting Digestive Issues

Gelatin is also beneficial to stimulate the production of gastric juices, which can combat other gastrointestinal issues such as acid reflux.

Natural Protein

Gelatin is highly abundant in protein and contains 2 grams (g) of protein per ½ cup; after all, it might be time to cut back the protein powder and cut in the bone broth.

CARAVAN teacher Haily demonstrates the importance of increasing wellness awareness in her video about gut health and teaches us how the gut acts like the control center of your body. Bone broth is one way in which we can improve gut health but learning more about its overall importance in the wellness of our bodies is something that we should become a higher priority.
